The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) is an international non-profit organisation that promotes and provides efficient renewable solutions for rural electrification in developing countries. The Alliance was created in 2006 in response to the need for access to sustainable electricity in the developing world and to facilitate the involvement of ARE members in the emerging rural energy markets.

ARE coordinates and supports working groups to address challenges and develop solutions in the field of rural electrification, organises and participates in international events and develops publications and resources.
