Children of Chernobyl Development and Relief Fund is an American humanitarian medical relief organisation established in 1990 to aid Ukrainian communities and especially children who have suffered the consequences of the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant accident. The activities of the Ukrainian office include: distribution of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and technology; improvement of the Ukrainian medical infrastructure (training for physicians, research on illnesses related to environmental contamination); implementation of preventive and nutritional programmes, of programmes to correct life-threatening birth defects; support for the local community’s economic development; facilitation of informational medical exchange with the West; publication of health handbooks and booklets.
