The Veolia Environnement Foundation is sharing in the costs of refurnishing the premises of ESAT (établissement ou Service d’Aide par le Travail) an organisation run by the French NGO, CPRH.

ESAT (établissement ou Service d’Aide par le Travail) is an organisation which employs 130 people with disabilities. Employees are involved in environmental activities (horticulture, creation of open spaces) and packaging. As the market in these two areas has declined, jobs at ESAT have been threatened.

The organisation has, however, identified a need in the industrial laundry business, and is now involved in refurbishing a building for use as a laundry. With the help of a grant from the Veolia Foundation, the new laundry will be up-to-date, environmentally friendly and economical to run. It is estimated that this project will save at least 25 of the currently endangered jobs.
