Slovakia humanitarian customs regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Slovakia

Required documents

  • bill of lading/airway bill
  • commercial invoice
  • packing list
  • fumigation certificate
  • deed of donation
  • certificate of origin
  • import approval from appropriate hygiene authority of the Slovak republic

Prohibited goods

Used fridges, freezers, kitchen machines (or robots), washing machines, dishwashers, used underwear, used pantyhose, T-shirts, shirts and other clothing products which can be in direct contact with human body, used bedclothes, used electro apparatus and products of consumer electronics (television sets, radios, computers, etc), alcoholic products, tobacco and tobacco products, coffee, tea, motor vehicles (excluding ambulances).

Tax exemption

Goods intended for charity or other benevolent institutions are exempt of duty and also exempt of VAT, so long as consignees are approved charitable organisations.

Monetary valuation

Monetary valuation is required on an individual item basis.

Restrictions on goods

Documents of the exporting country regarding fumigation or skilled cleaning, and the import approval of the relevant hygiene authority of the Slovak republic must be provided for the following: used bedclothes, used clothing products, other used fabric goods, used shoes, used upholstered furniture, and used toys.
