The Duang Prateep Foundation is a charity based in Thailand that grew out of efforts by slum dwellers to address the problems that have their roots in poverty and deprivation. The Foundation supports projects related to poverty relief, education, health care, social services, human development and emergency relief, for slum dwellers and poor communities. The role of the Foundation has been particularly important in the struggle against drug abusers. The foundation is run by over 100 staff, most of them being slum dwellers, and twenty full-time volunteers. The Foundation’s sponsorship program is providing assistance to schools and children throughout Thailand.
