The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is an international aid agency that works with communities and governments in 157 countries for the survival, development and protection of children worldwide. UNICEF’s focus in Malaysia is on local capacity-building, particularly promoting family and community participation. This includes improving parenting skills and child care practices, early detection of child abuse cases, and community monitoring of the situation of children. UNICEF is also involved in advocacy and social mobilisation strategies, along with exchange of information with other countries.
