Read Foundation UK enables communities in Pakistan to pull themselves out of poverty through education. READ provides education aimed at the disadvantaged and orphans, offers training for teachers, and constructs schools.

READ (Rural Education and Development) Foundation has been implementing educational and welfare projects in the developing world since 1994.

A registered charity in the UK, READ originally started work in Pakistan and Kashmir where it runs over 330 schools with more than 70,000 children, 3,500 teachers and over 7,000 orphans, making it one of the largest educational NGOs of rural Pakistan.

The United Nations Millennium Development Goal number 2 is to ‘Achieve universal primary education’ – namely, ensure that, by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling. READ foundation is one of the contributors to this goal.
