Kopernik helps Green School to save energy

Michael Woon, a Kopernik Fellow in Timor-Leste, visited Green School in Bali not only to learn more about the school, but also to get a sense for how appropriate technology and hands on build-it and do-it lessons could be incorporated into their curriculum.

The School was about to build a new cooking facility, and staff were thus pleased that Woon was able to provide a demonstration of do-it-yourself technology which could save considerable energy: making charcoal briquettes from agricultural waste and other biomass material in a stove he constructed himself.

Woon hopes Green School will be now able to spread this technology to others.
