The Veolia Foundation helps German NGO to change a holiday centre into a place for people with disabilities

The Veolia Foundation has made a grant to the German NGO, Kindererholungszentrum (Children’s Convalescent Center), to adapt former East German children’s holiday centre near the Polish border for the use of people with disabilities.

The center carried out the necessary work to propose holiday stays for handicapped persons. The grant from Veolia Environment Foundation assisted the NGO to adapt the function rooms, outdoor activities, reptile zoo and library to ensure that these facilities would be accessible to wheelchair users.

In addition, four apartments were renovated and made accessible. The Centre was then able to offer holiday programmes to young people and groups of adults including people with disabilities.
