Association for Behavior & Knowledge Transformation (ABKT)

Unverified non-profit organisation

The Association for Behavior and Knowledge Transformation (ABKT) is an NGO established by a group of social entrepreneurs in Khyber Pukthoonkhawa, Pakistan. The organisation strives to improve the lives of under developed communities with a special focus on women, youth and children. ABKT aims to work towards the Millennium Development Goals, but has been frustrated by ongoing conflict in the region.

To date, ABKT has formed and registered 11 women’s groups in the Malakand division and has helped them to become registered women’s rural organisations. ABKT also helped to ensure women’s participation in the political process in local government polls in 2001 and 2005 by organising awareness raising seminars and workshops.

ABKT has also helped to develop 15 teacher clusters organisations in government primary schools, working on hygiene and related activities.

Currently ABKT is mobilizing and organizing youth communities and building networks in different parts of KPK, to assist with peace building activities in the region.

ABKT’s leaders have won a number of awards from international organisations for their work.
