The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is an international aid agency that works with communities and governments in 157 countries for the survival, development and protection of children worldwide. In Kyrgyzstan, UNICEF’s activities include fighting child poverty, training doctors in emergency obstetric and neonatal care, delivering vitamin A supplements, providing equipment and training to monitor salt iodization rates, and promoting programmes that disseminate information about HIV/AIDS to young people.
