The Aga Khan Humanities Project (AKHP), headquartered in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, promotes pluralism in ideas, cultures, and people by supporting the development and implementation of innovative humanities curricula based on the cultural traditions of Central Asia. AKHP initiates and supports curriculum and pedagogical development in universities, community outreach projects and institutional development through long-term partnerships.
AKHP seeks to help Central Asians address current challenges, predicaments and opportunities, and to build bridges across community boundaries in the region. AKHP is founded on the belief that it is impossible to encourage a civil, tolerant, democratic, and humane society without citizens capable of finding creative solutions, making responsible decisions and considering the ethics of their actions.
