Jagruthi is a Bangalore-based voluntary organisation aiming to address the growing HIV infection in Bangalore city. The majority of Jagruthi’s activities are aimed at rehabilitating and putting back in a social setting children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. For example, it operates a city contact programme for identification&counselling of sexually exploited children&sex workers, and a shelter home for rehabilitation of the victims. These provide various infrastructural supports, such as medical attention (including HIV symptomatic treatment), non-formal education, preparatory classes for the children for admission to formal schools, skill development programmes, and others. Jagruthi accepts gifts in kind and monetary donations for its operations.
