Promoting safer operations and emergency preparedness in China

Dow Chemical Company is a diversified chemical company that offers a broad range of products and services. A partnership between the ministry of environmental protection (MEP), UNEP, and Dow promotes chemical safety, emergency preparedness and safer production in the chemical sector in China.

Companies participating in the pilot program have benefited from improved chemical safety: fewer accidents, safer production, fewer employees’ injuries, and fewer environmental emergencies. This program forms a part of the Awareness and Preparedness for Emergencies at Local Level (APELL) process initiated by UNEP. Dow brings experience in the development of training materials to the partnership.
