The Association for Sustainable Community Development (ASSCOD) is a registered NGO working for women’s empowerment in Kancheepuram and Thiruvannamalai Districts of Tamilnadu, India. The organisation is certified by the Credibility Alliance for its good governance. It has formed 200 women’s, self-help groups (SHGs) enrolling over 3,000 poor women as members. It operates in the 26 most backward villages where 83% of the people live the below poverty line and the majority of whom belong to lower castes known as Dalits and Tribes. ASSCOD uses Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as strategic tools to implement its developmental activities and also networks with other national&international agencies as a means to better achieve its objectives.
