Founded in 1945, Unitarian Service Committee (USC) Canada is a non-governmental organisation that supports sustainable development through community projects in Africa, Asia and Central America. In the Douentza district of Mali, USC improves health and nutrition by establishing market gardens and local seed and cereal banks. USC constructs wells to provide clean water, better sanitation and hygiene. USC works towards environmental protection by restoring vegetal cover to combat desertification, promoting technologies that use less wood and prevent bush fires and by increasing plant production.
