Medical Research Center (MRC) is a medical non-governmental organisation, which aims at improving the health situation and access to health-care for poor and vulnerable in Sierra Leone especially in the underserved communities in rural areas by providing primary health care support. MRC has worked during the civil war also and is now a key player in ensuring that those rebuilding their lives in Bo and Tonkolili districts have increased and improved access to health care. MRC works with the local community using a participatory approach to ensure they have ownership over project outputs, thus empowering the community. MRC has cooperation with other organisations and NGOs including Merlin and UNICEF.
