Habitat for Humanity South Africa (HFHSA) works in partnership with communities to help address their housing needs. HFHSA considers such factors as the level of need for housing in the community, support of local leadership and community stability. HFHSA currently works in three regions across South Africa engaging with communities in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal. All HFHSA projects are driven by committees consisting of community volunteers. These committees are involved with family selection, homeowner education, the construction programme and monitoring of the individuals’ saving programme. HFHSA supports the committee through training them in their roles and responsibilities, administration, house design, finance, business plans, construction programme, and record keeping.
