Doing Business with the Poor: A Field Guide

Doing Business with the Poor: A Field Guide encourages “sustainable livelihoods (SL) business”, that is, doing business with the poor in ways that benefit the poor and benefit the company. It discusses how successful SL business models focus on core competencies, partner across sectors and localise value creation. It also provides case studies that highlight how businesses can help the poor to meet their basic needs, address hidden needs, empower people, improve and manage the supply chain and promote local development. Finally, it provides recommendations to address basic business questions.
