Cook Islands humanitarian customs regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Cook Islands.

Required Documents

  • Bill of lading/airway bill
  • commercial invoice
  • packing list
  • fumigation certificate
  • deed of donation
  • certificate of origin

Prohibited Goods

The following goods are prohibited entry as humanitarian aid: alcoholic beverages; tobacco products; all vehicles; any restricted/prohibited goods; and firearms etc.

Tax Exemption

Tax exemption is applicable to all humanitarian goods not listed under prohibited goods, and all non-profit consignees.

PreShipment Application

Application for tax exemption should be sent by consignees to: Cook Islands Customs Services P.O.Box 120 Rarosonga Cook Islands

Monetary Valuation

Monetary valuation is required for the consignment as a whole, and for each individual Item, in NZ, US or Australian dollars.

Restrictions

Food products with expiry dates are restricted.

Other Info

Goods must be imported for humanitarian cause only, and must be clearly stated by the Aid/Donor Agency as being donated for humanitarian purpose.
