Tanzania Humanitarian Customs Regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Tanzania.

Required Documents

  • Bill of lading/airway bill
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Fumigation certificate in case of used clothing Other documents required which are obtained in Tanzania:
  • Registration certificate of the organisation
  • Recommendation letter from the District Commissioner
  • Approval letter from Deputy Commissioner Customs and Excise
  • Modernisation and Risk Management
  • Fully completed Treasury Vouchers forms.

Prohibited Goods

For information on restricted goods, please refer to the Restricted and Prohibited Goods section in the Customs Management Act.

Tax exemption

Tax exemption is offered on humanitarian cargo. For pre-shipment application consignees should apply to Destination Inspection scheme.

Monetary valuation

Monetary valuation is required.

Goods restrictions

Depends on nature of consignment.
