Honduras humanitarian customs regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Honduras.

Required Documents

 

  • bill of lading/airway bill.
  • commercial invoice.
  • packing list.
  • fumigation certificate.
  • deed of donation.
  • certificate of origin.

 

Prohibited Goods

Everything concerning humanitarian aid is allowed.

Tax Exemption

Tax exemption is only given to non-profit organisations, that work in the areas of health, education and food distribution.

Pre-Shipment Application

Pre-shipment application should be made to the Secretary of Finance, Department of Customs and Taxes.

Monetary Valuation

Monetary valuation is required of the consignment as a whole, in US dollar currency.

Restrictions

Organisations sending goods to Honduras must consider the expiry date restrictions for food and medicine.

Other Information

If the humanitarian aid is given to a governmental department, then the institution that receives the donation is in charge of applying for tax exemption from the Secretary of Finance. If the humanitarian aid is given to a non-profit non-governmental organisation, this organisation must be legally registered in the country.
