Cadbury's NGO partnership improves water problems in poor countries

By the end of 2006 Cadbury Schweppes has helped to fund about 400 water wells and sanitation projects in Ghana through partnership with WaterAid and the Kuappa Kokoo Social Development Fund. These projects will change the lives of some of the world’s poorest people forever. Cadbury Schweppes has also supported WaterAid projects through staff fundraising activities and corporate donations.

Through WaterAid Ghana and ProNet Accra, one of its implementing partners, Cadbury has financed the piloting of the rope pump technology to determine its suitability. In 2006 Cadbury provided funds for 34 hand dug wells in the Sefwi-Wiawso district of the Western region. Three of those wells have been fitted with rope pumps on pilot basis and are reportedly doing well.
