UNDP is one of United Nation organisations that has targets for reducing poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women by 2015. On the ground in 166 countries, UNDP uses its global network to help the UN system and its partners to raise awareness, track progress and advocate for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.
In Botswana, UNDP’s goal is to continue to provide quality policy advisory services, share best practices and support government efforts to build capacity to address development challenges related to poverty, HIV/AIDS and environment management for the current programming cycle of 2003 to 2007. Issues of governance and gender arel also being factored into various programmes and projects.
