The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food assistance branch of the United Nations, and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger worldwide. It has been present in Sudan for almost 30 years. WFP has been providing food assistance to the conflict-affected people of Darfur since 2006. WFP plans to feed 4.1 million in Darfur and 1.1 million in the central and eastern Sudan states as well as in the three protocol areas of Abyei, the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.
