This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Norfolk Islands.

Required Documents

• bill of lading/airway bill;* commercial invoie;* packing list;* certificate of origin;* deed of donation;* fumigation certificate, subject to quarantine requirements;* for exporting goods, a Customs Export Entry document is required.

Prohibited Goods

• The following goods are prohibited as humanitarian aid:
• Fresh fruit and vegetables;
• Plants and parts of plants;
• Pork and poultry products from New Zealand

Tax Exemption

Exemption from import duty may be applied for, on humanitarian goods imported into Norfolk Isand. Goods transhipped under bond are exempt from import duty. Exemption is available for all humanitarian goods.

PreShipment Inspection

Pre-shipment application should be made to the Collector of Customs, Administration of Norfolk Island.

Monetary Valuation

Monetary valuation is required for humanitarian shipments, on the consignment as a whole.

Restrictions

Second hand goods should be cleaned prior to shipment to Norfolk Island, subject to inspection on arrival and may require further cleaning / fumigation.
