Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) - Accreditation Criteria

Listed on this website are criteria for accreditation with AusAID. The criteria have been developed in consultation with the Australian Council for Overseas Aid (ACFOA) and the NGO community. They state that “[A charity must have] formally adopted and be compliant with the ACFOA Code of Conduct for Non-government Development Organisations.” NGOs interested in accessing AusAID funding through Humanitarian Emergency and Relief and Rehabilitation Windows must also adhere to the principles of the Steering Committee of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Code of Conduct. NGOs seeking this sort of funding are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Sphere Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response handbook. While there is currently no formal requirement for agencies to formally adopt Sphere, there is general agreement among humanitarian agencies on the core principles outlined in the document and a commitment to incorporate Sphere standards in agency policy and practice.
