UNDP is one of United Nations organizations committed to targets for reducing poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women by 2015. On the ground in 166 countries, UNDP uses its global network to help its partners to raise awareness, track progress and advocate for change and to connect countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. In Iraq, UNDP has been engaged in numerous programmes such as: electrical generation / distribution / transmission projects and network rehabilitation; ports re-opening; water resource management; employment generation; sanitation&health; and coordinating funding for AIDS / tuberculosis / malaria.
