Somali Integration and Development Association (SIDA) is a registered charity in England and Wales, based in the London Borough of Southwark.
SIDA is originally established to provide support and developmental services to primarily Somali families reaching the UK in the 1980s-1990s to get protection from war and civil unrest in their country of origin.

Mission Statement – SIDA’s mission is to help the Somali Community resident both UK and beyond, improve the quality of their lives and enable them to play a fully empowered and effective role in wider society by bringing people together, sharing knowledge and coordinating activities.
SIDA conducted constitution changes in 2014, enhancing its objects by including some articles that allowing it to work with the Somali community both in the UK and beyond.

The Horn of Africa, where the Somali community is originated has been regularly affected by ceaseless war and social unrest for almost three decades due to war and draughts affecting lives of both human and animals.
These are the areas of need identified so far:
1. Water and sanitation
2. Education and human development.
5. Health and environmental awareness
6. Emergency relief – such as food, clothes, medicine and protection.
6. General community development including youth and sports, vulnerable people such us people inflicted by mental issues, physical disability, displacement and refugees of children, Adults and elderly.

Objectives:
• For the public benefit of those members of the public living in the UK who are Somali or of Somali descent by relieving persons who are in need by reason of poverty, sickness and distress, by advancing education and by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life of those persons for whom the facilities are provided.

• For the relief of poverty of refugees and asylum seekers from Somalia and elsewhere who are resident or are intending to reside in the UK by providing such persons with free and confidential advice, assistance, representation, counselling, translation and interpretation services in matters such as asylum, immigration, money, debt, welfare benefits, housing, health, education, training and employment.

• Responding to the needs of communities living in the Horn of African and countries around the world by provision of health support, water, sanitation, emergency relief, advancement of democracy, human rights, conflict resolution, peace, reconciliation and community development therein.
