Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC)

The Commission’s activities cover the geographical area of 7 Local Government Areas of Edo South Senatorial District of Edo State with a population of over 5 million people.JDPC has a team of 12 regular workers with over 100 volunteers scattered all over local government.

Objectives :

(a) Empower organizations in civil society for people’s participation in governance and upholding their fundamental Human Rights.
(b) Identify unjust structures/ policies and take corrective actions.
© Build capacity of those that are incapacitated so that they can help themselves and contribute meaningfully to the society.
(d) Build the people to do what they are used to in a better and more productive way.
(e) To make preferential option for the poor and marginalized.
(f) Create a forum for information gathering and dissemination as a community empowerment tool.
(g) Create a forum for research, documentation and publication of information’s on social issues.
(h) Giving a new meaning to the life of Prisoners and ex- Prisoners.
(i) Advocate, educate and carry out interventions on health related issues

A community where justice and promotion of human dignity are held sacred; such that all are fully alive and active through the realisation of their full potentials in a just, safe and free environment.

Strengths
lies in a core unit of dynamic professionals with various backgrounds who have imbibed the spirit of the Commission in their pursuit to bring about both qualitative and quantitative change in the lives of their focus groups.
