Public Health Initiative Liberia - PHIL

(Unverified non-profit organisation)

Public Health Initiative Liberia (PHIL) is a non-governmental organisation registered in Liberia with a mission to promote and enhance Liberia’s quality of health care delivery through leadership, partnership, innovation and capacity building.

PHIL has four key programs, namely; Integrated Community Based Health Services Delivery (covering maternal, Newborn and Child health issues), Accountability in Health Care, Advocacy and Research, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Water Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion.

PHIL’s integrated community based health services delivery is geared towards supporting the delivery of quality health services at primary health care level by building capacities of various community structures including community health workers and strengthening local community networks to improve uptake of health care services, increased health knowledge, prevent disease and promote health and social behaviour change.

PHIL is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 5 members that are responsible for the overall institutional governance and serves as the overall supervisory and policy oversight of the organisation. Subsequently, PHIL has a management team consisting of 6 persons led by the Executive Director that overseas the day-to-day management of its operation. Additionally PHIL has a volunteer network of 500 community based volunteers that are engaged with fostering our vision and mission across Liberia. Presently we have a physical presence in 5 of Liberian’s 15 political sub division called counties. Those counties are Bassa, Rivercess, Margibi, Bong and Montserrado.
