Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives: PLANE Making a Difference in Rural Uganda
PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is a National registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in Uganda, with offices in Fort Portal Tourism City, Western Uganda. We advocate for the protection and promotion of children, youth, and women’s rights, aiming to create a healthy, violence-free society. Our empowerment programs, human rights advocacy, and health and literacy promotion efforts transform the lives of disadvantaged populations in Uganda.
Since 2010, PLANE has been committed to advocating for and protecting the rights of children, youth and women through various initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy, violence-free society.
Our Mission
PLANE’s mission is to transform the lives of disadvantaged populations in Uganda through empowerment programs, human rights advocacy, health promotion, and literacy campaigns. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for vulnerable individuals and communities.
Key Areas of Focus
Health Awareness and Social Security
• Health Promotion: Educating communities on general health awareness.
• Social Security: Providing economic empowerment for teenage mothers.
• Violence Prevention: Advocating against violence toward children and women.
Educational Support
• Orphans and Vulnerable Children: Providing scholastic materials and school fees to ensure access to quality education.
• Youth Empowerment: Implementing programs that support youth education, with a focus on girl child education and teenage mothers’ empowerment.
Women’s Empowerment
• Livelihood Interventions: Supporting rural women through skills development and livelihood projects.
• Maternal and Reproductive Health: Conducting awareness campaigns and health clinics to ensure women have access to essential healthcare services.
Gender-Based Violence Prevention
• Support Services: Offering counseling, legal support, and community outreach to protect women and girls from abuse and discrimination.
Environmental Education and Conservation
• Sustainable Practices: Promoting environmental responsibility through tree planting initiatives, waste management projects, and awareness programs.
Our Achievements
Since its inception, PLANE has gained recognition for its capacity to enhance health promotion programs, advocate for children’s rights, and empower youth and women. Our registration with the Uganda National NGO Board (Reg. No. INDR111193949NB) and Kabarole District (Reg. No. 2323) underscores our commitment to these causes.
PLATFORM for the NEEDY is responding call for expression of interest to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.. PLANE is member of Girls not Bride Uganda (GNBU) alliance, a fraternity that is focused on fighting teenage pregnancy and early marriages in Uganda. PLANE is also a member of Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET) an advocacy organization that exists to coordinate collective action among women’s rights and gender equality stakeholders for the attainment of gender equality and equity in Uganda.
PLANE is a member of the Uganda Girls Not Brides Uganda is a key partner to the Ugandan government in implementing the National Strategy to End Child Marriages and Teenage Pregnancies
Primarily, PLANE is into charitable work mainly children and women rights protection and GBV prevention, Educational support. HIV prevention and Sexual Reproductive Health, Livelihood and economic empowerment, Environmental conservation and Water, sanitation and hygiene.
PLANE is run by a group of professionals dedicated to support the underserved and vulnerable populations. PLANE has a dedicated board of 7 members and 5 Trustees supported the secretariat/management team of staff (7) and core volunteers, Global Ambassadors and other volunteers with technical expertise who support field level interventions.

PLANE is member of Girls not Bride Uganda (GNBU) alliance, a fraternity that is focused on fighting teenage pregnancy and early marriages in Uganda. PLANE is also a member of Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET) an advocacy organization that exists to coordinate collective action among women’s rights and gender equality stakeholders for the attainment of gender equality and equity in Uganda. PLANE partners include Voice of Toro 101 FM, Life FM 93.8 FM, and Jubilee FM for enhancing awareness creation and information dissemination. We partner with Kabarole District Local Government in capacity building and accountability, Ministry of Health, and Uganda AIDS commission, Africa Sustainable Journeys in hosting volunteers for sustainable development. PLANE is also a partner with Global Giving a fundraising platform and Virtual Internship for hosting the virtual interns among other potential organizations and companies. We also partner with the family clinic medical centre to provide post abortion care, and counseling to the young girls.Further information
