WECARE is a community based organisation located in Seme Sub-County, Kisumu County, in the western part of Kenya. It is a non-profit, non-denominational and non-sectarian that was formed by community welfare minded people with an aim of empowering the community members who bear unequal levels of poverty, violence and discrimination, and are most in danger of being left behind. WECARE does this through improved household food and income security, improved access to clean and safe water and general community health as well as promoting linkages, partnerships, networks, joint action, action learning and knowledge management with key stakeholders in the fields of sustainable agriculture, primary health care, access to clean and safe water, education, human rights, with environment., Gender and HIV/AIDS being key cross-cutting issues. WECARE believes that empowerment is a process of enhancing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and transfer those choices into actions and outcomes.
