United Safe Environment Creators (USEC)

Unverified non-profit organisation

United Safe Environment Creators (USEC) is a grassroots, non-profit, refugee-led organization based in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya. Founded in 2015 and legalized in 2016 under the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Services, USEC is driven by passionate young refugees committed to building a safe and prosperous future for their communities.

Mission: To empower young refugees and their communities through livelihoods, protection, and environmental sustainability, creating a safe and prosperous future for all.

Vision: A world where refugees and marginalized communities access quality education, sustainable livelihoods, and safe environments to thrive and contribute positively to society.

Objectives

• Education: Promote inclusive, quality learning opportunities for all.
• Protection: Strengthen child protection, GBV, and SRH systems to prevent abuse and exploitation.
• Livelihoods: Build economic resilience through skills training, entrepreneurship, and access to resources.

Our Programs

• Protection: We prevent and respond to child abuse, exploitation, and GBV, while promoting adolescent SRH through education, awareness, and referrals. By engaging parents, youth, and leaders, we create safe spaces, provide life-saving information, and ensure survivors have access to care and support.

• Education: We support school enrollment, distribute learning materials, and promote positive parenting. Through play-based after-school activities and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), children gain confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills. We also advocate for inclusive education so every child has a chance to learn and thrive.

• Livelihoods: We empower teenage mothers and vulnerable women with vocational and entrepreneurship training in business planning, financial literacy, and marketing.
