Disability Aid Foundation was founded as a welfare society by local Somali youth and women who were committed to improve the living standards and level of decision making of the disabled people in the community and to provide people with disability with a voice of our own

DAF is a leading disability rights, advocacy and representative organization of and for all people with disability in Somalia. The organization is national and cross-disability – they represent the interests of people with all kinds of disability. DAF is a non-profit, non-government organization.

DAF aims to build confidence, raise self-esteem and empower the people with disability that they work with to participate fully in their development and decision making in affairs that affect them and to enable sustainability of projects in the society.

The organization aims to bring together the local community with their experience with development agencies and their resources to bring a sustainable partnership that will fight ignorance, harmful social norms and other impediments against People with disability.

DAF primary membership is made up of people with disability and organizations primarily constituted by people with disability. They have a vision of a socially just, accessible, and inclusive community, in which the human rights, contribution, potential and diversity of all people with disability are recognized, respected and celebrated.
