The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the South African revenue and customs agency. Its functions are to collect revenue and ensure compliance with legislation, and to provide a customs service which will maximize revenue, protect the country’s borders and facilitate trade. Its main functions are to collect and administer all national taxes, duties and levies and provide protection against the illegal importation and exportation of goods.
