Centre de Reinsertion et Education pour les Enfants de la Rue

Unverified non-profit organisation

CREER is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious centre in Abengourou, Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). CREER created the first transit centre for children who have been trafficked or exploited in Cote d’Ivoire. CREER works with the children, to give them future hope and be able to lead a normal adult life, after being part of a family at the center.

Many children arrive in a terrible state needing medical attention. Based in Abengourou and close to the Ghanaian border, a lot of work is carried out in the villages educating the population about child labour. During these visits CREER looks for children that are needing assistance. Whilst the children are in their care, CREER either educates them at the centre or in the public school system, and repatriate children to their families when possible under the guidance of the justice system.
