The Canadian Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping poor countries and communities through the promotion of human rights, raising funds for development projects, and implementing humanitarian initiatives. Established in 1958, this Montreal based organisation, works in more than 20 countries and has implemented approximately 150 large-scale projects. In addition, it carries out awareness campaigns geared toward the Canadian public. CECI focuses on recruiting volunteers for international cooperation , providing training on issues related to development, raising funds for development and humanitarian projects, carrying out public engagement activities and implementing development projects, humanitarian assistance and reconstruction initiatives. CECI fights poverty by supporting local populations in their efforts to become drivers of change in their environment, with the goal of improving their living conditions. The center also supports non-polluting agriculture that feeds people and generates decent income for farmers.CECI’s brand of development transforms unequal relations between women and men and furthers the cause of women’s rights.
