Helen Keller International (HKI) is an international NGO established in 1915 that combats the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programmes based on evidence and research in vision, health and nutrition. HKI began working in Niger in 1987 and currently focuses on a response to the food crisis, and on programmes to control trachoma and combat other diseases that cause blindness.
