Rwenzori Women's Initiative For Community Development

Unverified non-profit organisation

Rwenzori Women’s Initiative for Community Development (RWICOD) is a women initiated development organization that was founded in the year 2002 by 5 development activists to uplift women from conditions of backwardness that afflicted them.

At its foundation, the group’s major focus was on the improvement of the condition of women in society on both economic and social angles with a focus on disadvantaged rural women in Kasese district, western Uganda.

A few years down the road however, they saw a need to broaden their scope and decided to take up more programs including support for at risk and disadvantaged children, agriculture diversification schemes, tackling health and hygiene challenges- especially those to do with women and girls, micro credit and micro enterprise creation initiatives, environmental conservation and protection programs, human rights and humanitarian intervention efforts, education and capacity building in the broadest sense etc.
