Shine Epilepsy Support is a Non-Governmental Organization based in Nairobi, Kenya that is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of people (children, young people and adults) with epilepsy through information, education, advocacy, support services and research throughout Kenya.
Shine Epilepsy Support’s goal is to close the gap of the plight of people with epilepsy; improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society; as well as to ensure together with their families have access to full life experiences.
Objectives
i) Task- shifting to a grass root level by training health care workers; this will improve access to better epilepsy care.
ii) To guarantee production of skilled workers with technical competencies.
iii) Raise awareness in the community to improve knowledge, reduce stigma and ensure suspected cases are referred to the clinics.
iv) Increase access to epilepsy information via phone services, mass media, awareness materials and publications
