The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation is a private grant-making institution founded in 1978. Headquartered in Chicago, the Foundation provides grants through four programmes: the human and community development programme, the global security and sustainability programme, the general programme and the MacArthur Fellow’s Programme.
