The Best Buy Recycling Programme focuses on ensuring that consumer electronics are disposed of in safe and smart ways. The e-waste, or “tech trash”, is recycled or refurbished. It ranges from old or obsolete cellular phones, rechargeable batteries, ink jet cartridges, televisions to computers and computer components, various appliances etc. The company’s projects include free recycling drop-off kiosks in their stores around the U.S., haul-away programmes (for a nominal fee, Best Buy will haul-away appliances when delivering new purchases), weekend recycling events at their stores, grants for recycling programmes developed by non-profit organisations, public-private partnerships or local authorities.
