Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

This project is in line with our program to aid children who cannot afford basic academic materials like books and uniforms. We also intend to help pay fees in part or full for children whose parents are either dead or are disabled in Bafaka Balue.

This way the project will be helping both the children who find themselves financially lacking and parents who are faced with severe challenges. We hope to create a situation where these children, especially the more vulnerable girl children, could have the opportunity to education and self realization.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project is that of creating a small non-profit business, dealing in general provisions to be specific. We want to engage in the buying and selling of general household commodities like foodstuff, utensils, books and other academic and household materials.

We hope to generate funds from the sales of these products and to use these funds in managing the organization’s projects which are geared towards education and poverty alleviation in Bafaka Balue. We believe that our goal could mostly be attained when we are able to manage money and given that our organization is yet very small as per membership, we will rely on business coordinated by members for our goals to see light.

This project is aimed at paying for school fees (part or full) for children who cannot afford it, buying and donating books and other academic materials to schools within our area of operation, providing loans for single parents especially women who prove to have the responsibility of fending for their children, working with and supporting the activities of student and youth groups who share the same vision of encouraging education and alleviating poverty, to support community projects in the domain of infant and maternal health care.

We also hope to upgrade our organization’s scope in the future if we record success in this venture.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Other people would partner with us in this project by providing funds and services that would run the business. We will need people to finance the project (through grants, loans or other forms of funding as may be preferred by partners) as well as others to help in the management of the project.

Management could be direct (acting as sales persons etc) or indirect (acting as business consultants etc).

Please detail the resources that you need.

- Goods: 2.500.000francs CFA (US$ 5,000)

- Store rentals for a period of five months, 300.000frs CFA (US$ 600)
