Vocational Training Camp for Ugandan Youth

Requested by

Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Lack of vocational training services has a devastating effect on the young people’s economic situation. Young people have struggled with life and they need a hand that can support them through vocational training so that they can equip themselves with constructive knowledge and reliable skills.

It is noticed that 60% of youths in their productive years, lack direction which has contributed greatly in affecting the development and economic out-put of the country.

In Uganda, youths contributes to 50% of the economy of the country and therefore Uganda Youth Skills Training Project is here to make sure that youth are equipped with skills under well training environment and this has caused the setting of Youth International work camp that will take place in Kiruhura District on 27th December 2012

The International Good Will Youth work camp shall take place in western Uganda in Kiruhura district. The main objective of this camp is to empower the underprivileged youth of the said area by constructing for them a vocational training center. All the tools to use have already been offered by Tools with a Mission UK.

What is your project and how will it help?

1. The project is the construction of a hands-on skills training center and it will help in training the young people who finish primary school and fail to get the money for further education in secondary schools.

2. The project will help the drop-outs who drop before reaching the candidate classes like P.7, S.4 and S.6.

3. Skills that these young people will be trained in, will help contribute to the development and bring down the levels of dependance and poverty in the area.

4. Offering hands on skills to some of the young people in Africa is now being considered as one of the strategies that will bring down most of the Africa’s general population challenges, which are mostly affecting the youths.
