Volunteer in an Orphanage in Kampala Uganda, East Africa

Requested by

Child Support Uganda (CSU)

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The project is targeting orphaned and disadvantaged children aged 3 to 14, at CSU’s Kamwokya Child Support Center in Kampala, and in other community support programs as well.

What is your project and how will it help?

The project includes teaching in orphan schools, helping in other youth community development projects, teaching computer and ICT skills at our Computer and IT Skills Training Center in Kampala, helping organize out-of-school kids programs and youth sports activities, as well as conducting counselling sessions with children and youth.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

CSU is seeking short-term and long-term volunteers as well as goods donations.

Volunteer placements are both short-term (2weeks – 6months) and long-term (7months-2years), but can be longer or shorter, depending on the volunteer’s desire, and time frame. Volunteer placements are organized throughout the year. Their role will be to handle healthcare services, teach computer skills, counsel children and youth, provide psychosocial support to children and youth as well as help to do fundraising, and find sponsorship supports. Details on how to become a volunteer and specific roles and mission can be found in the attached document below.

Please detail the resources that you need.

Here are the following volunteers needed:

  • Childcare Givers and Social and Community Workers
  • Medical & Community workers
  • Computer Teachers & IT Instructors

However, volunteers are also needed in other areas, as detailed in the attached document. We always need more volunteers to help in our orphanages and youth community projects in Uganda. Not only is it a great chance to give something back, but it is an opportunity to learn more about the country and how people live in Uganda, challenges orphaned children go through and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of these children.
Child Support Uganda (CSU) welcomes volunteers with or with no special skills. The most important attribute needed is to have love, passion and compassion to work with less privileged children and youth in a third world environment.

Goods of these types are also needed and listed in the attached document below:

  • Religious materials
  • School Supplies
  • Clothing
  • House and healthcare equipment
  • Games and Sports Equipment
  • Office Supplies and equipment
  • Musical Instruments
  • Vehicles for Transportation:
