Improve and Uplift the Lives of HIV/AIDS Orphans, Eastern Uganda

Requested by

Nalubaale Children's Care Centre

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

It is estimated that 90 percent of orphans in Uganda do not go to school because their single mothers normally cannot afford to send them to school. There are currently a large number of orphans especially in the eastern part of Uganda because people fled eastwards during the war. Eastern Uganda is also one of the areas in Uganda with the highest HIV/AIDS rate, thus adding to the number of orphans.

The Nalubaale Children’s Care Centre was established to help improve and uplift the lives of orphans and widows in eastern Uganda, offering hope to Ugandan AIDS orphans through education, healthcare and empowerment programs to enable a better future.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project brings about change by helping HIV/AIDS orphans to conserve and develop their physical and mental strength through; Education, vocational training and improved living conditions as the surest way to ensure their viability to society. The organization also helps people living with HIV/AIDS, vulnerable adolescents, widows, and the youth. We aim to:

1. Grow sponsorship programs to help more AIDS orphans.

2. Provide sponsored students with academic and vocational training and monitor their progress.

3. Monitor and influence the welfare of the sponsored child through ongoing home assessment, access to healthcare, and health education.

4. Leverage the current Ugandan educational system by selecting qualified schools and supplementing their educational programs.

5. Improve self sufficiency through empowerment and life-skills training and resources.

6. Partner with like-minded organizations to provide services that support the mission of NCCC.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Other people can partner with Nalubaale Children’s Care Centre in number of ways;

(i)you can choose to host a bead at your home where you can invite your friends to come and socialize and purchase unique bracelets, change purses or colorful paper bead necklaces made by women and men in Uganda. We will provide the beads.

(ii) You can start collections in you area by leaving donation bags and drop-off bins at country clubs and sports stores and request shoes, clothes and other gifts for needy children in Uganda.

(iii) You can also host a party where you may your friends to make donation in lieu of a gift.

(iv) If you are a high school or university student, you can start a club at your school which you may name “sail to school” which can collect donations that will send children to school.

(v) If you are a professional for example a doctor, and you wish to donate some of your time, you can host a medical camp where children can be examined and treated.

Please detail the resources that you need.

Nalubaale Children’s Care Centre requires USD $1238.88 to run the orphanage every month. We are sending close to sixty children to school and in each particular school nalubaale needs USD $2650.00, note, there are three terms in a year.
