Classroom-to-Classroom Assistance for Sierra Leone

Requested by

Khadarlis for Sierra Leone

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The issue being addressed here is village sustainability. We aim to rebuild villages in Sierra Leone through building homes, digging wells and creating sustainable energy, hoping to improve the lives of citizens, giving them the opportunity to flourish. We also hope to create a mutually beneficial project between schools in Providence, US and Sierra Leone, promoting understanding and cooperation while improving literacy.

What is your project and how will it help?

The classroom-to-classroom project requires volunteers to canvass local and private schools, to identify fundraising and/or sponsorship opportunities for a class of students in Sierra Leone. Students from a local class (US) will be paired with a pen pal in Sierra Leone to cultivate a relationship and learn more about the culture of the children they’re helping. It will help because the literacy rate in Sierra Leone is at 35% and that needs to be increased. Your donation would help fund a child’s education in Sierra Leone and teach students in Providence about life in Sierra Leone.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We need people willing to sponsor classrooms. Relying on donations and human kindness, we are always looking for volunteers or monetary donations.

Please detail the resources that you need.

We need an individual willing to sponsor a classroom by buying school supplies. The supplies needed are pencils, pens, book bags, paper, binders, calculators, computers, books, and rulers.
