Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Being a community based organization – having the technical know-how on the real problems facing the marginalized grassroots communities, we strongly emphasis that there is need for active involvement of communities to make significant process in poverty reduction. It is possible through sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, gender empowerment /orphan vulnerable children (OVC) and primary health care/ HIV/AIDS infection spread. Communities themselves have a central role in finding solutions to the problems they face. Poverty eradication is a general problem with local solutions and work needs to be done in different communities to create units capable of facing up to the problem.

What is your project and how will it help?

1. Access to Adequate water for domestic and productive use:

- Construct a rock dam at Ngaani on the Mutonguni Hills, laying main pipelines for distribution to two market centers. Needing: Construction material, masons, engineer fees, skilled and unskilled labour and main distribution lines.

- Construction of two water storage tanks @100m3. Needed: Construction material, masons, engineer fees, skilled labour, unskilled labour.

- Construction of 4 sand dams (1 in each major stream/river)/location. Needed: Construction material, masons, engineer fees, skilled labour, unskilled labour.

- Capacity building on water resources management and systems maintenance, needed: Skilled trainers, workshop costs.

2. Rehabilitation of Mutonguni hills forest ecosystem:

1: Physical and non-physical demarcation of Sisal plants, aloe plants as boundaries.

2: Set up and operate twelve tree nurseries (at least 0.25 acres each, four in each location)

3: Nursery husbandry – needing tools, fencing materials, labour, seedlings and seeds land.

4: Formulate forest management plan – needing qualified consultant/firm.

5: Replanting the forest area with appropriate seedlings (20,000 acres) – needing labour, water, seedlings and technical support.

6: Planting fuel-wood trees for sustained yield production on 5000 acres – needing labour, water, seedlings and technical support.

7: Planting timber trees for sustained yield production on 5,000 acres of land needing labour, water, seedlings and technical support

8: Facilitating households to plant at least 100 tree seedlings (timber and fuel-wood) for domestic use – needing labour, water, seedlings and technical support from Kenya Forest Services (KFS.)

9: Facilitating five schools to plant at least 1000 tree seedlings each – needing labour, water, seedlings and technical support.

10: Manage/rehabilitate five gullies in the ecosystem – needing labour, water, seedlings and gabions.

11: Facilitate construction of terraces in 500 farms/ 2000 meters – needing technical support MoA and labour.

12: Promote cultivation of sisal and aloe plants (60 farmers) needing: technical support, KFS/MoA and labour.
