Piggery project to help single mothers, Nkozi, Mpigi district - Uganda

Requested by

Kwewaayo Development Association

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

After witnessing a good number of single mothers who faced difficulties supporting their children at schools, a group of teachers initiated Kwewaayo Development Association.

This project is aimed to help single mothers develop a means of survival and sustain their families.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project is to use animal husbandry to equip the a group of 50 single mothers from Nkozi, Mpigi district with skills and modern methods of animal keeping. Thereafter, we will be providing these single mothers with at least two piglets to start their own projects. This way, they will be able to support themselves and look after their children.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We would appreciate financial guidance in our administrative body, both internal fund management and external donations. Counselors could also sit in our seminars and advise our single mothers on life skills and independence. We would gladly welcome volunteers to work with us in our fight for our cause.

Please detail the resources that you need.

The association is seeking financial assistance of 6,000USD to help re-organize our small project. We aim to have a good construction for effective teaching of the single mothers, and also get some piglets for rearing. Pigs in Uganda do sell easily and can be a sustainable livelihood for the single mothers.
